Meet Allena!

My name is Allena Wright and I am a new Intern at Red Door! I am looking forward to making new connections and gain a deeper understanding of the world of real estate. I am currently a senior at Buffalo State College majoring in Business Administration. I am constantly told by professors and advisors to be active in the field of my major, to find something I like and apply myself. I’ve loved my time here and the people I have met. I know I made the right choice.

I am originally from Brooklyn, NY but I live in Elmwood Village completing my final semester of undergrad. I love Elmwood for the food and the small shops, it makes me feel like I am still in Brooklyn. I miss being home often but I can go to a nice restaurant/cafe and feel like I never left. I am interested in getting to know Buffalo more before I graduate and visit as many places as I can.

Besides being a student and intern, I am also on the Executive Board of an organization on my campus, Kinks, Curls, And Coils. At our weekly meetings, we discuss hot topics and allow students to express their opinions in a safe space. When I am not at Red Door, in school, in meetings or at work I enjoy meditating, listening to podcasts and making my own beauty products. Just last week, I made myself a conditioner out of coconut milk and honey!

Although this is my second internship in the field of real estate, I already know this one will be different. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Here I can sharpen not only my business skills but my networking skills as well, stress-free. If you see me eating my overnight oats in the morning at my desk, feel free to say hello.

Meet Tyler our new Intern!

Hello, my name is Tyler Compo and I am currently a senior at Daemen College pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I am also pursing a Minor degree in entrepreneurship. I was born and raised in Lancaster NY where I have lived my whole life. After graduating from Lancaster High School, I decided to go to Daemen College because it was a very small private school where I’d be able to be in smaller class sizes. After starting college, I learned that I enjoyed Business, but I didn’t know what category specifically, so I took a wide range of business classes until I landed on marketing. I fell in love with marketing after taking a couple of classes with a professor who inspired me. I have a passion for marketing and social media because I enjoy being able to connect to other people. After a couple of years at Daemen I realized how big the marketing industry in the city of Buffalo is becoming. I love being able to meet new people and working with people in the Buffalo community. After graduating in May from Daemen I hope to stay in Buffalo because I love this community and living here my whole life has shown me how great it is.

Outside of school I used to run indoor and outdoor track for my high school and college. I was the captain of my relay team in high school and ran collegiate division 2 track for Daemen College where I achieved a few school records. I had to give up running in my Junior year because unfortunately my schedule got too hectic and I wanted to focus on my academics. I loved being able to have the experience of running track in college because when I started in 8th grade I had no idea I’d be able to participate in a collegiate sport. Besides track I also play soccer on the side. I play for my friend’s men’s league team in the Buffalo district soccer league.

I’m very excited to start interning for Red Door Real estate!

Living in Buffalo

Growing up in Buffalo, there is a lot of things you take for granted as it has become our norm. Like any hometown, we forget about the bakery tourists are excited to try or the natural wonders of the world in our backyard. I fell into this category quite heavily as whenever someone would ask what to do, I would reply that there isn’t much to be done. I couldn’t have been more wrong which I had eventually learned when a foreign exchange student came to live with me 4 years ago.

My family and I had signed up on a whim, myself being very excited to share my culture and learn someone else’s. After careful selection, Jieun Lee from South Korea was assigned to my home and was arriving in just a few short weeks. This was exciting but also very daunting.

Where am I going to bring her?”

“What kind of foods will she be excited to try?”

“Will she enjoy living in a place that isn’t a tightly connected city?”

My mind was whirling and I finally had to take a moment and look at Buffalo from an outsider’s perspective. Niagara Falls; 20 minutes away from the local coffee shop and library for your town, is an amazing attraction that people come from around the world to see. Canalside had recently been updated and was quickly becoming one of the biggest outdoor attractions in Buffalo. Duff’s Famous Wings and Beef on Weck are the stereotypical Buffalo foods. The Eternal Flame hiking trails close to Orchard Park.

All of these are things that we take for granted in our home towns. It is easy for us to grow bored of our everyday routine and settle into comfort. Although it may be easy, it is definitely something we should all try and avoid! Take a trip once a month in your local home town like it is something new and exciting. Do touristy things that you’d normally gawk at. The places we live have so many opportunities for us to explore, growing bored is near impossible if we fully invest ourselves in enjoying them.

Buffalo is an amazing city. The neighbors are kind, the food is fantastic and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere but here. It took a little push from another culture to show me exactly how amazing Buffalo can be and exactly why I never want to call anywhere else home.

Meeting Cassie Our New Intern!

Hello, my name is Cassie Carney. I am currently enrolled at The University at Buffalo completing my 4th year. Red Door Real Estate is an amazing opportunity for me to expand on my current skill set and I am extremely excited to see what these next few months will entail.

I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY but have always been extremely interested in world culture. This led me to make the decision to major in Business Administration with concentrations in both International Business and Marketing. Over the past 5 years I have travelled around the world engaging in cultural experiences. My favorite place I have been to was South Korea. Throughout my studies I have gained knowledge of their culture and began learning the language through in class lectures and cultural experiences.

I am very excited to be a part of the Red Door team for these next few months as I truly feel it is the right place for me to grow as a person not only in my field but also through real time examples of workplace culture. With this digital marketing position, I hope to expand my skillset and bring a fresh set of ideas and opportunities to Red Door Real Estate. I hope to get to know you all soon!
